GHD is beginning an exciting USAID-sponsored collaboration with PATH, an international nonprofit organization working to create sustainable, culturally relevant solutions to health problems in communities across the globe. PATH and GHD will be working to enhance the tuberculosis information and tools available in the TB Infection Control and Drug Resistant TB communities on GHDonline, GHD’s open collaboration platform for global health care implementers.

More than 600 professionals are already working on TB challenges in each of the two GHDonline communities, representing hundreds of organizations across more than 80 countries. The communities provide a space where implementers can ask and answer questions, share experiences and resources, and search for up-to-date information pertaining to TB care delivery. TB is a priority disease for PATH, and one of the organization’s objectives is to widely disseminate the most accurate information and effective strategies for TB treatment and control. GHD and PATH are excited to capitalize on these common goals to strengthen the capacity of the TB communities on GHDonline.

To this end, GHD is looking for a TB Research Assistant who will focus on developing content and community outreach for the TB communities. This person will work closely with PATH implementers and GHDonline moderators to post critical resources in the TB communities; facilitate discussion among GHDonline members; document proven practices and success stories from the field; and ensure that implementers, especially in high-burden countries, know how to access and use GHDonline.

Several of PATH’s staff members are already active participants in the TB communities. We look forward to engaging them and new partners further in building the knowledge base for TB and drug-resistant TB prevention, treatment, management, and infection control.

To apply for the PATH-GHDonline TB Research Assistant position, please send your CV and cover letter, a 3-5 page writing sample, and three references to Amy House: ahouse@partners.org. The deadline to apply is November 2, 2009.
