MobileActive.org, an organization dedicated to promoting the use of mobile technologies for social impact, just published a post recapping the recent panel discussion on Health IT for Disaster Relief and Rebuilding: Lessons from post-earthquake Haiti hosted on GHDonline.org.
In Learning from Haiti: Health IT and Disaster, writer Anne-Ryan Heatwole describes the panel discussion as a “dialogue, consisting of posts on a discussion board, focused on how experts in global health care delivery used ICTs immediately after the earthquake, and what lessons translate to other disasters.” Furthermore, Heatwole notes the strength of the discussion as “Many of the responders had been on the ground in Haiti either prior to or immediately after the earthquake, and as such had first-hand knowledge of what worked and what didn’t during the disaster.”
Although the Expert Panel part of the discussion has officially ended (with more than 30 contributions so far!), it’s not too late to chime in and continue the discussion. The GHDonline.org team would also like to invite members to take a quick survey to share feedback and ideas on future GHDonline events. Thank you.
