New GHDonline Design (2012)

As I mentioned earlier, 2011 was a year of solid growth for GHDonline.org. We would like acknowledge and thank our community members, community moderators, partners, and supporters — without you, this growth would never have been possible. The improvement of health care delivery depends on the exchange of knowledge, and this exchange can only happen in the communities with your support and participation, so thank you.

We would like to share with you some of the successes of the past year and give you a view into what you can expect in the coming year – in our 2011 Year in Review.

The GHDonline.org communities have been active since July 2008, so why are we just doing a year-end report now, as we look back on 2011? We’ve been busy cultivating communities of practice, growing and adapting based on feedback from members. We have so far been pretty “heads-down” and quiet about what we have been doing behind the scenes and where GHDonline.org is headed.

Expect to hear more from us in 2012 via our blog, Twitter, and Facebook about what we’re doing to encourage community participation, which new communities we’re considering opening, and what improvements to the website you can expect. We’ll work just as hard to support the communities on GHDonline.org, but will take the time to share with you what we’re learning along the way.

We also hope to hear more from you — about how we’re doing and what we can do to improve your community’s experience. This past year, we collected your feedback and revamped both the look-and-feel and functionality of the website. We hope you like the changes, which include:

  • An activity dashboard for members, showing active discussions at a glance
  • A recommendation tool for promoting and finding the most useful discussions
  • Multiple file uploads (this was one of the most commonly-requested features)
  • A wider viewing panel for reading discussions

Check out the site and let us know what you think – we’re all ears!

Group activity, Summer 2011

Over the past few months, project evaluators, consultants, health researchers, clinicians and public health professionals from around the world have been working against the February 1st deadline to submit their application to the Global Health Effectiveness (GHE) Program.

The 2012 program runs July 5 through July 27, and will be held at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts. There is only one week left to apply. If you’re interested but have questions, please call us at (617) 520-4437 between 9am and 10am (EST) or 4pm and 5pm (EST) Monday through Friday or e-mail ghe@globalhealthdelivery.org.

GHE is an intensive, three-week series of courses that offers in-depth learning in value-based healthcare delivery with instruction from renowned leaders in the field. Alumni have endorsed the unique opportunities to hear experts’ first-hand perspectives and experiences in management science, analyze global health delivery case studies, and refresh their knowledge of epidemiology through seminar-style lectures and problem sets.

GHE is co-sponsored by the Harvard School of Public Health and Harvard Medical School, under the direction of Harvard faculty on the staff of Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
