About

GHDonline.org is the platform of Professional Virtual Communities (pdf) developed and maintained by the Global Health Delivery Project.

GHDonline enables open collaboration between global health implementers and organizations in online “communities of practice” in order to create a new breadth of knowledge applicable in the field, and democratize access to critical information to improve the delivery of health care worldwide.

Eight public communities focus on critical delivery challenges and are guided by expert moderators, and private communities are designed and maintained for specific organizations and collaborative initiatives.

Each community offers a dedicated Knowledge Base accessible via Moderators’ Topics and an integrated search engine. Participation is easy via email, and collaboration in multiple languages is supported and encouraged with the integration of the Google translation tool.

“We need more than just access to information. We need to exchange knowledge and practices: this is key to making decisions.” Agnes Binagwaho, MD, PhD hc; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health of Rwanda – September 17, 2008

“As diagnosing and treating patients is invariably a complex and multi-layered endeavor, especially in challenging settings, resources like these can be very helpful in advancing practice and in managing care for patients,” says Corrado Cancedda, MD, Associate Physician in Medicine, Division of Global Health Equity, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Partners In Health, Rwanda. Cancedda is a moderator of Clinical Exchange, a private community on GHDonline where Brigham and PIH Rwanda clinicians consult with each other on complex clinical cases (click here to read a PDF abstract on this community).

“We as architects are happy to listen in and get an insight on the subject matter and be able to relate with our area of expertise. Again, thanks to your discussions we are able to understand the seriousness of the issues.” Gobe Gaotlolwe, Architect, Ministry of Health, Botswana, October 2008

“GHDonline is the closest thing I have seen yet to a working group with the range and ability to create/refine a standard and develop a universal tool.” Om Goeckermann, Freelance, U.S.A., June 2009
