UpToDate International Grant Program
“As diagnosing and treating patients is invariably a complex and multi-layered endeavor, especially in challenging settings, resources like these can be very helpful in advancing practice and in managing care for patients,” says Corrado Cancedda, MD, Associate Physician in Medicine, Division of Global Health Equity, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Partners In Health, Rwanda. Cancedda is also a moderator of Clinical Exchange, a secured GHDonline community where Brigham and PIH Rwanda clinicians consult with each other on complex clinical cases (click here to read a PDF abstract on this community).
UpToDate, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health, and GHD announce a new program to provide one-year complimentary subscriptions to UpToDate®, a leading evidence-based and peer-reviewed clinical information resource, to clinicians and organizations providing medical care or related services to poor or underserved populations outside the U.S.
Accepted by more than 360,000 clinicians in over 145 countries, UpToDate provides a broad range of evidence-based medical information resources, from topic reviews that include a synthesis of the literature to specific recommendations for patient care, created by more than 4,000 editors, authors and peer reviewers from leading medical institutions.
The goal of the program is to increase the quality of clinical information available in underserved areas, where the burden of disease for treatable illnesses is associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality. GHD will administer applications for this program via its web platform for global health implementers: GHDonline. Grantees will be selected in February and June 2010 (applications due January 25 and May 3, 2010). Please visit GHDonline.org for directions to apply.
